Traditionally, a kayak is a small human-powered boat in which the paddler uses a double-bladed paddle to move across the water. This would be our chosen craft.
Encouraged by our sports co-ordinator, Carla, the a451 team (some aprehensive) set about their training at Cobnor Activities Centre, near Chichester. The weather looked great and the water calm, so after introductions and a safety-briefing we were out on the water. Throughout the course of our training there were a few ups and downs, but on the whole everyone did brilliantly.
By the end of the course spirits were high and confidence had grown, and I'm pleased to say that we all achieved our BCU (Btitish Canoe Union) 1 star award - Well done everyone!
We all had a great experience and really appreciated the time and skill that Steve, our instructor, and the team at Cobnor gave us. Maybe we'll be back for the 2 star...
